Morris Grant Troxell

Morris Grant Troxell, loving father and husband passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born February 23, 1941 in Caddo, Oklahoma to Steve Grant Troxell and Nona Leona Price Troxell. Morris married his wife, Earnestine Young Troxell of 30 Years on October 2, 1961 in Amarillo, Texas. He worked for 39 years for Southwestern Bell as a communication technician. He is survived by his son, Morris G. Troxell, II and by his daughter, Amy Troxell Culp; one granddaughter, Gabriella Troxell; he is also survived by two sisters of Amarillo TX, a number of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his wife Earnestine Young Troxell.

Alice Irene Karr

Alice Irene Mercer Karr went Home to the Lord on Sunday, May 17th, 2020. Alice was born in Laredo on April 21, 1935. She married Don E. Karr on June 16, 1956 and followed Don, and the Army, for twenty-six years. They retired to Bandera, TX and eventually Cresson, TX. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved sharing her love for travel with her family. She was a dedicated member of MOAA for twenty years and worked tirelessly to help Service members maintain their benefits. With the Granbury, TX chapter, she was a strong supporter of the Field of Flags program and enjoyed the camaraderie of the MOAA members and community. She also enjoyed working with the GHS Science Fair Team. Left to cherish and love Alice are her two daughters: Donna Karr Floyd (Robert Floyd) and Linda Karr Chisholm (John Scott Chisholm); three grandchildren: Amanda Jekel Petrovic (Daniel Petrovic), Catherine Jekel Ronderos (David Ronderos), and Stephen Everett Chisholm; and several nieces and nephews. Alice is preceded in death by Don, her parents, and her brothers and sisters. "I go straight to Heaven - for I believe in God and his son, Jesus" John 5:24. In her own words, "Bye!"

Mary "Evelyn" Howard

Mary "Evelyn" Howard was born in Comyn, Texas on April 3, 1931 and she passed away on May 18, 2020 in Granbury, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Caffey, two brothers, David and John Caffey, and five sisters, Morene, Ollie, Mildred, Louise and Pearl Caffey and her husband Bob Howard and daughter, Cynthia Howard Wellman. Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Joe Howard and wife Vicci of Whitney, Texas and Tom Howard and wife Carol of Granbury, Texas and sonin-law Mike Wellman of Wolford, Texas and brother-in-law Mike Howard and wife Martha of McKinney, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeff Howard and wife Carla, Spencer Howard, Kullen Howard, Jake Howard and wife Candace, Elise Looney and husband Travis, Sharon Mooney and husband John, and Tina Tonts and husband Nick and Leah Wellman, along with fifteen Great-Grandchildren.

Twila McCoy Plant died peacefully, surrounded by family and secure in love of her Heavenly Father at home in Granbury, Texas on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the age of 77.

Game wardens were checking fishermen along the Brazos River below Lake Granbury on May 8 when they located a group fishing in a secluded area of the river. The group was in possession of 105 undersized striped and sand bass, according to the game wardens. All were issued citations, and their equipment was seized. The fish were donated to a needy family in the area.

Baby, adults okay

A baby and two adults escaped serious injuries in a two-vehicle wreck Wednesday afternoon on Highway 377 east of Tolar, according to reports at the scene. The crash may have been caused by the driver of the other vehicle falling asleep at the wheel.
