Hospital District Board seeks legal opinion on inmates

Wednesday, June 12, 2019

The Hospital District Board, which includes all four county commissioners and the county judge, among others, voted in a specially called meeting Wednesday to spend $5,000 for a legal expert's interpretation of the contract between the county and Community Health Systems, Inc., the corporate umbrella for Lake Granbury Medical Center. At issue is whether health services for county jail inmates should have been included all along in services provided for those who are indigent. During the 23 years since the original contract was signed, the county has paid extra for inmates.
