Storm socks Hood County
Firefighters and other first responders were rushing to one emergency after another Wednesday night in the wake of a lightning storm that packed winds up to 65 mph.
Wind ripped off part of a roof at a home in Canyon Creek, and lightning sparked a fire that heavily damaged a home in Comanche Cove, according to Sheriff Roger Deeds. No injuries were reported from either incident.
An elderly man on Glenwood Court in Port Ridglea suffered a minor head injury when the wind uprooted a large tree and damaged his home.
Downed trees and power lines were reported throughout the area. Many people lost electricity.
"It's unbelieveable how many calls we had tonight," the sheriff said.
